Watching my kid pick up Python vs how I learned BASIC on a Commodore 64

I spent weeks typing code out of a magazine just to get a simple text adventure, and now my nephew watched a 10 minute YouTube video and built a guessing game in 20 minutes flat. Has anyone else felt like the learning curve just shifted completely, or is it just me? It's wild how much faster you can get results now.

Not to nitpick but you weren't "typing code from a magazine" on a C64, you were typing BASIC from a magazine. Python is way more like that than you think too, the learning curve just looks different because the resources are better now.

Used to roll my eyes at the whole "it's like the 80s all over again" crowd but @young.thomas actually changed my mind on that. I spent forever struggling through Python tutorials that felt like homework, then one weekend I just typed in a simple text adventure from a blog post and it clicked. The C64 thing makes total sense now because you're literally copying line by line and learning by doing, not by memorizing syntax.
