Had a run-in with a pour-over snob at a shop in Portland
I was at this little cafe off Hawthorne last weekend, just getting my usual drip coffee. This guy behind the counter watches me order and goes, "you know that's basically dirty water, right?" He then spent ten minutes explaining why their $8 pour-over was the only real way to taste the beans. I felt kinda dumb at first, so I tried one. Honestly, it was good but not life-changing. The whole thing made me wonder if I'm missing something by sticking to my automatic brewer. Has anyone else had a barista shame them into trying a different method and actually stuck with it?
