Dropped $160 on a Golden Age comic at a flea market in Phoenix and I still can't tell if I got lucky
So about 3 months ago I was walking through a flea market in Phoenix and this older guy had a box of old comics under his table with a handwritten sign that just said "$5 each or make an offer on the box." Most of it was junk from the 90s with the shiny covers, but near the bottom I pulled out a Detective Comics issue from 1941 with a beat up spine and a water stain on the back cover. I knew it wasn't a key issue but it was still a Golden Age Batman book, so I offered him $160 cash for it and he took it without blinking. I got it graded and it came back a 2.0, which honestly matched my expectations. Here's the thing though, I've been watching sold listings for months and that grade usually goes for $300 to $400, so on paper I did fine. But now I keep second guessing myself because the guy sold it so fast that I wonder if I missed something wrong with it besides the obvious wear. Has anyone else bought raw Golden Age stuff at a flea market and had that same weird feeling after?
