Grading incident at my comic shop almost got me banned

I was at Green Lantern Comics last Saturday and brought in a bag of silver age books for grading. The owner grabbed a Batman #181 out of my hand without cotton gloves and left a thumbprint on the cover. I had to call the store manager 3 times before they apologized and comped my next submission.

wait wait, no cotton gloves? like at all? thats insane to me, even my local guy who is kinda sketchy at least wears the white gloves when handling anything from the 70s or older. i wouldve lost it right there on the spot, not gonna lie. good on you for keeping your cool enough to call the manager instead of just yelling at the guy lol. but three times though? thats ridiculous, they shouldve been tripping over themselves to fix that.

dude you gotta just bring your own white gloves from now on? thats what i started doing after a similar thing happened at a shop near me. i keep a pair in my car glovebox, feels a little extra but its worth it to not have to freak out at some kid whos probably just following bad training.

Man I felt that, I once showed up to a record store with gloves in my bag forgetting I had them and the guy working was like "oh you think you're a pro or something?" and we both just laughed it off. But honestly, these days I'd rather be laughed at than watch someone manhandle a vintage copy of Abbey Road with greasy pizza fingers. It's a fine line between looking like a weirdo and protecting your stuff, I guess I'm just on the weirdo side now.
