Hit 500 issues in my collection this weekend and it snuck up on me

I was just organizing some long boxes in my garage on Saturday when I decided to actually count everything. I figured I had maybe 300 or so but it turned out to be exactly 503 issues. That number hit me hard because I remember buying my first comic at a 7-Eleven back in 1992 for $1.25. Never thought I would cross 500 but here we are. Has anyone else had a milestone like that just creep up on them without planning it?

Setting a specific number goal helped me get past that same feeling. I started keeping a simple list on my phone of what I had, and then I aimed for small targets like 10 more issues every few weeks. Before I knew it, I crossed 400 without even realizing it. The trick was not putting pressure on it, just picking up stuff I actually wanted to read instead of chasing numbers. Your 503 collection sounds like it grew naturally, which is honestly the best way to hit those milestones.

Man "snuck up on me" is exactly how it felt when I hit 300 last year, like I blinked and suddenly had stacks everywhere. But 500 is wild, especially starting from a 7-Eleven find in the 90s. I think those early impulse buys at random stores make the milestone feel more accidental and real. The garage organization always exposes the truth, I cleaned mine out and found doubles of issues I swore I sold years ago. It's a good problem to have if you ask me, just means your collection has a life of its own now lol.
