Hot take: That guy at the Des Moines con who hounded me over my Bendis run taught me more about comic fans than the books did
Back in 2022 at a con in Des Moines I was digging through a $5 bin when a guy noticed my stack of a full 18 issue run I had just pulled. He grabbed one out of my hand, flipped to the letters page, and went off for 10 solid minutes about how I was ruining the hobby by hoarding a whole arc instead of leaving some for other readers. I just stood there holding 17 books while he lectured me like I was stealing food from his kids. What got me was he was right about the hoarding, but dead wrong that I owed him any of my finds. Since that day I always leave at least 2 copies of anything good in the bin, not for him, but because some 12 year old kid deserves a shot too. Comics are a community until somebody wants your stack, then it gets real weird real fast. Anybody else had a bin digger turn on them over a pull?
