I quit correcting everyone's superhero trivia at parties
Now people actually want to talk to me about comics.

Honestly, that makes so much sense. I read this thing about how comic book shops have more women now because the vibe is less about proving who knows more. People just shut down when you act like a walking fact check.

Ugh, @mary_hernandez, this is so true beyond comic books. I see it all the time in video game chats where someone asks a simple question and gets a long answer full of facts instead of help. Or in fitness groups, if you don't know the right way to do something, you're treated like you don't belong. It's like some people forget that everyone starts somewhere and just want to show off what they know. That attitude makes spaces feel cold and not friendly. No wonder folks just leave instead of sticking around.

Gatekeeping just kills the fun for everyone.

Spot on about the vibe shift in comic shops. It's less about trivia and more about the actual stories now. The old guard used to quiz you on issue numbers to prove you were a real fan, which was just silly. That stuff pushed so many people away from the hobby for no good reason.
