I thought digital comics were killing my local shop until a Wednesday run totally flipped me
I walked into my comic shop in Tacoma last Wednesday just to grab my pulls and the place was packed with like 15 folks playing a tournament, not a phone in sight. The owner told me their monthly subscriber count went up by 40 this quarter because of a graphic novel book club they started, and I realized digital and physical readers are two totally different crowds. So for the shop owners out there, has adding events or clubs actually brought new faces in for you too?
Watched a guy at my shop last month buy like six volumes of Saga because his book club picked it and he wanted to catch up before the meeting. He'd never even been in the store before that. Makes sense that clubs pull in a crowd that digital just can't reach.
