Mods on my favorite comic forum are way too quick with the lock button

So, I was sharing this theory about how two characters might be connected, and it got a lot of replies. But out of nowhere, a mod locked it for being 'speculative' even though that's half the fun. It feels like they don't want real fan chat, just news posts. I get keeping order, but this is too much.
