Question about a bad comic shop experience in Denver
I was at a shop in Denver last month trying to buy a specific variant cover, and the owner got super rude when I asked to see it, saying 'real fans don't just chase covers' and it totally killed my vibe for the whole day, has anyone else had a gatekeeper ruin a simple purchase?

Honestly I just take my business elsewhere now.

Yeah, gatekeepers are the worst. Had a guy scoff at me for buying a trade paperback instead of singles, like my money wasn't good enough. Just let people buy what they want.

Ugh, that's the worst kind of comic shop behavior. I've had a similar thing happen where a clerk acted like I wasn't a "real" collector because I was asking about a new #1. It's so frustrating when they gatekeep what counts as a valid reason to buy something. Like, let people enjoy the hobby their own way, you know? That kind of attitude just makes the whole community feel unwelcoming. Sorry that happened to you, it really can ruin the fun of a simple trip.
