Serious question, how long did it take you to figure out which comic a panel is from with zero context?
So my cousin texted me a single cropped panel last Tuesday, no title, no issue number, just Batman standing in what looked like a rusty warehouse, and I figured it would take me five minutes. Fast forward four hours, two browser tabs full of Grand Comics Database searches, and a whole Reddit thread where a guy swore it was from a 2011 Detective Comics run, I gave up and went to bed. Next morning my roommate glanced at it for like ten seconds and said, oh that's from the Batman: Year One trade, that warehouse is in issue 404, and sure enough it was. I felt so dumb because I had the trade sitting on my shelf the whole time and never even cracked it open. What's your go to move when you get a mystery panel with no context, do you ask around or just dig through boxes yourself?

What made your roommate spot it so fast, was it the art style or did he just know Year One panel by panel? I ask because I have a buddy like that and he always says it is the inker, not the writer, that gives it away. Do you think having the trade on your shelf actually made it harder, since you were searching online instead of just pulling the book?
