The $750 omnibus I bought for the art alone is now my most-read book

I figured I'd just flip through the Absolute Sandman for the Alex Ross covers, but after three weeks it's on my nightstand and I've actually read all four volumes, so has anyone else bought a pricey collected edition for the visuals and ended up loving the writing way more than they expected?

Got a buddy who dropped way too much on that big Berserk deluxe set just for the splash pages, and now he texts me about Guts' character arc like it's his full time job. He still hasn't finished it, but he keeps saying the art "distracts" him from the story, which is total nonsense.
