A grumpy safety guy at the Portland job made me change how I check my umbilical before every dive
He stopped me on the dock and pointed out a tiny nick in the outer jacket I'd walked past twice, said "that's how guys get wet, kid." Now I run my hand the whole length before every splash, takes 30 seconds, and last Tuesday I caught a worn spot near the 40 foot mark before it got worse. Anyone else got a quick pre-dive check they swear by?
