Air hose whip caught me off guard in the Gulf last month

Was doing a pipeline inspection off Corpus Christi and my whip check let go at 150 psi, whipped right past my helmet before I could kill the valve. Anyone here run dual whip checks or just stick with one?

Checked your whip check lately or just assumed it was good? Did it fail at the crimp or snap at the fitting?

Funny you mention that. My buddy had a whip check fail once and the thing snapped back so hard it put a ding in his truck door. Still gives him grief about it every time we're out. Now I just eyeball mine every couple weeks and hope for the best.
