Dropped a wrench 30 feet in the Mississippi and got it back with a magnet tied to a nut
Was doing a dock inspection near Baton Rouge and my 15/16 wrench slipped off the piling into about 30 feet of muddy water. I grabbed a horseshoe magnet from the truck, wrapped it in a rag with a 1/2 inch nut for weight, and lowered it on a tagline for maybe 10 minutes before it finally clanked onto the wrench. Anyone else keep a rig like that on the boat for when stuff goes over the side?
Funny how the little fixes always save the day, a magnet on a string beats fancy gear every time. Same thing happened to me with a clogged drain, tried everything then a cheap wire hanger did the job in two minutes lol. Simple stuff just works.
