Saw a guy using a Poseidon band mask on a job site last month and laughed it off

Turns out he was clearing 40% faster on the bottom time because of the lower gas consumption, and now I'm the one looking foolish - anyone else ever had a piece of gear they dismissed totally flip your opinion?

...and @blair_chen81 is right, the embarrassment is real once you actually try it. I did the same thing with a pair of those fancy titanium fins, told my buddy they were a waste of money for like six months. Then I borrowed his for a wreck dive. Now I own two pairs. Makes you wonder what else we're clowning on that actually works.

lol "laughed it off" is hilarious because that's literally me with half the gear I see at first. I used to clown on those Poseidon band masks too, thought they looked like some snorkeling toy. But then I tried one on a deep dive and yeah, turns out I was the clown all along. Now I tell everyone they're dumb for not using one, but really I'm just projecting my own embarrassment.

@blair_chen81 is living the circle of life right there. We all do it, roast some piece of gear until someone hands it to us and we eat our words. The Poseidon mask is actually a good example, looks weird but works great. I'd rather try things before I talk trash now, saves me from looking like an idiot later.
