Serious question, did the dive shop guy in Galveston sell me a line or is surface-supplied really that much less tiring?
I called the whole idea of surface-supplied over scuba a sales pitch after 4 years of bouncing around rigs, but after a 6 hour inspection job last Tuesday on a dock piling where I barely had to think about my gas, I am starting to wonder if he was right all along.
Ha, careful, he didn't sell you a line but he didn't tell you the whole story either. Surface-supplied feels easier because the topside crew is watching your gas and you're not hauling a tank around, but you're still tied to an umbilical and a tender, which is a whole different kind of tiring. The gear wasn't the pitch, the freedom was.
