That one day in the Gulf where I hit a 30 foot visibility wall and found a lost anchor chain.

Last spring off Galveston, I had a week of zero viz and tree trunk currents, then Thursday morning the water cleared up like a swimming pool for about 4 hours. Found a massive anchor chain tangled around some old pipeline that paid out a bonus for recovery. Anyone else ever hit a random perfect day that made all the crap ones worth it?

Honestly, it's cool you found something valuable but are we really acting like a random clear day is some kind of life-changing miracle? It's just good luck, not a sign from the universe.

Wait, do you really think that's all it is though? Cause I had a friend who was going through the worst year of her life - lost her job, her dog died, and her apartment got flooded all in like three months. She was literally at rock bottom, crying every day. Then one morning she woke up late, missed her bus, and had to walk to the temp agency. On the walk she noticed the sky was this crazy perfect blue with no clouds anywhere, and she said it just hit her different. She ended up sitting on a bench for twenty minutes just staring up, and that same day she got a call back for a job she'd applied to months ago. Now she swears that clear sky was the turning point, and honestly I get it - sometimes small things hit hard when you need them most.

Yo, I actually just read something about this the other day! There's this whole concept in psychology called "psychological preparedness" or something like that. Basically when you're at rock bottom you're more open to seeing things differently because your normal filters are just gone. So your friend wasn't crazy for noticing that sky, you know? It's like when you're in a dark room long enough and then even a tiny crack of light feels huge. I think we underestimate how much our mood changes what we pay attention to. Maybe that sky had always been pretty but she just wasn't ready to see it until everything else fell apart.
