A client's blunt note made me rethink my whole bench setup
I was fixing a gaming PC for a regular (you know, the one with the custom water loop) and after I gave it back, he emailed me a picture of my workbench. He wrote, 'Your bench looks like a bomb hit it, how do you find anything?' It was true, I had three open tool bags, loose screws everywhere, and cables in a pile. That weekend I bought a cheap pegboard from the hardware store and spent $60 on bins and hooks. Now I force myself to put every single tool back in its spot before I start a new job. Has anyone else had a client call them out on their shop habits?

My bench looks like a bomb testing site, honestly.

My friend's bench actually caught fire once.

Sounds like @fionam11 needs a fire extinguisher too

Client called me out once for leaving a 10mm socket on his car seat. Said he almost sat on it. Pegboard is good but I got lazy and started just throwing things in a five gallon bucket. Works fine until you need a specific screwdriver at the bottom.

Pegboard was a game changer for me too. Best $60 I ever spent. Now I just need to actually use it instead of throwing stuff on the floor.
