Caught myself cleaning heat sinks with a regular brush for 6 years

Took a blown GPU in Austin last month to finally realize I was trapping dust under the fins, not removing it. Switched to a soft paintbrush and canned air at 45 degrees, has anyone else been doing this wrong their whole career?

Ha! That's wild, six years with a regular brush and you thought you were doing it right. Wait till you find out about using a toothpick for the really stubborn gunk between the fins, it's a game changer for sure.

Man, don't even get me started. I spent a good decade using an old toothbrush on everything, thought I was a pro. Turns out I was just pushing the gunk deeper into the fins every single time. The canned air at an angle was a total lightbulb moment for me too. I feel like half my career was just moving dust around instead of actually cleaning it. At least we're not the ones who used a vacuum without a brush attachment, that's a whole other level of regret. Better late than never, I guess.
