DAE have a customer's dog unplug the server rack mid backup
So last Thursday I was at a dental office in Boise doing a drive swap on their old tower when the office manager's golden retriever wandered into the back room and yanked the power strip cord with his tail. The backup I'd been running for 40 minutes died at 87 percent and the drive started throwing read errors. I ended up pulling the drive, cloning it with ddrescue on my bench, and getting them back up by 6pm, but I aged about five years in that hour. Now I tape down every cord I can reach before I start any file job, no matter how friendly the dog looks. Anyone else got a shop rule that only exists because of one dumb incident?
