My neighbor left a broken printer on my porch with a note.
How do I deal with this without making things awkward?

A broken printer with a note? That's a new level of passive aggressive recycling. I'd prop it up in my window facing their house, like a modern art piece called "Porch Dumping.

Honestly the weirdest one I ever saw was a neighbor who kept getting anonymous bags of oranges left on their car. Not like a nice gift, just a plastic sack of oranges every Tuesday. They started stacking them on the curb with a sign that said "free oranges, please end this." It worked, but we never did figure out who the orange person was.

My cousin's old roommate used to leave bags of expired kale on the kitchen counter as a hint. It escalated to a full bag of potting soil by the front door. The printer move feels like a similar, weirdly formal kind of message.

My last apartment had a guy who kept leaving his bike parts in the shared hallway. I finally just put them all in a box, taped a label that said "free bike parts" on it, and left it by the mailboxes. They were gone in an hour and he never did it again. Sometimes you gotta just make the hint so obvious they can't ignore it.
