Pro tip: a 20 year bench guy said stop swapping power supplies first, and he was right
Had a client's PC that wouldn't post last Tuesday, and I was about to order a new PSU when the old tech next door said to reseat the RAM instead. Did that, machine booted in 30 seconds, and I've now found the same fix on 4 of my last 7 no-post jobs. Anyone else finding RAM seating is the culprit way more often than power issues these days?
The reseating thing is real but the old tech told you to reseat the RAM, not that RAM is usually the culprit. What he's really getting at is reseating resets a bunch of stuff at once, like the card and the cables get wiggled too. Nine times out of ten it's just oxidation or a loose stick, not that RAM goes bad.
