Stop using thermal paste syringes - get the paste in tubes instead
I swapped from those little syringe applicators to a proper tube of Arctic MX-6 last month and my CPU temps dropped 4 degrees on a fresh build. Anyone else notice how much air gets trapped in the syringe method?

I mean... 4 degrees doesn't really prove much unless you had perfect control over everything else. Could be you just applied more paste this time or mounted the cooler a little differently. Those syringes work fine if you know what you're doing and don't rush it. People act like a tiny air pocket is gonna melt their CPU but realistically we're talking like 1-2 degrees at most in real world use. Not losing sleep over it.

Exactly, @amyh12 is right, the GN video showed the method barely matters.

Wait, didn't Gamers Nexus or someone do a whole video testing this with a thermal camera? lol. They showed that the spread from the syringe method was pretty much the same as the pea method as long as you put enough paste on. I think people get way too caught up in the specific pattern when the real difference is just how much you use. Like you said, a tiny air bubble isn't going to melt anything, these CPUs have built-in safety limits anyway. Honestly, if your temps are fine under load, who really cares how pretty the application looks under the cooler?
