That time a guy at Micro Center told me to just use a rubber mallet
I was trying to seat a stubborn RAM stick at 2 AM last week and this older tech walked over, said 'hit it harder.' I thought he was joking. Turns out I was being way too gentle, the stick clicked in on the second try. Anyone else gotten advice that sounded dumb but actually worked?

The rubber mallet trick actually saved me on an old Dell server once. Percussive maintenance is real, just got to know when to tap and when to whack.

The line between tap and whack is a whole career skill honestly.

It's funny how many things in life are like that. The trick is figuring out when something needs more force versus when it needs finesse, and that's a lesson that applies to about a million other things too.
