Three dead drives in one week taught me a lesson about UPS batteries
Had three HDDs fail in a row on the same office server, and after digging I found the UPS battery was dead and the unit was dumping dirty power for weeks. All three were Seagate Barracudas from different batches. Anyone else see a spike in drive failures when UPS batteries hit end of life?

Maybe check if the drives were just old and unlucky no offense.

Had a similar setup fail on me last year and it turned out to be a bad PSU frying drives, @emma_garcia is onto something with the system issue theory. Replaced the power supply and all three new drives have been running smooth for months now. Worth checking that component before blaming the drives themselves.

yeah @olivia670 i get where youre coming from but i dont think age was really the issue here. the drives were only like 3 years old and they were from a reputable brand so they shouldve lasted way longer than that. usually with hard drives you see slow failure over months not just dying out of nowhere like that. plus the way they failed at the same time makes me think it was more of a power surge or something else going on with the system. ive had drives last 5+ years without a single problem so age alone doesnt explain it.
