Broom finish vs. hard trowel on a 40x60 shop slab, did I waste 6 hours?

Did a 40x60 slab last Tuesday in Fort Worth and spent 6 extra hours hard troweling it because the homeowner wanted it shiny, when a broom finish would've been done in an hour. Now I'm second guessing if the burnished look was worth $400 extra or if I just fell for the homeowner's Pinterest board. Where do you all draw the line between what they want and what's actually worth the time?
