Had a concrete pour go sideways on Tuesday and almost lost $700
I was finishing a driveway near Austin, plain gray mix, nothing fancy. Showed up at 6am like usual, everything looked fine. But the mix came in way too wet, like soup almost. I had to cut water and add dry mix on the fly while the driver was giving me attitude on the radio. Took two extra hours just to get it to a workable slump. By the time we finished the broom finish, the sun was beating down hard and I spent another hour fighting crust on the edges. Total nightmare. Has anyone else had a ready-mix driver mess up your whole schedule like that?

Used to think it was always the contractor's fault if a pour went bad, you know, like they didn't order right or check the truck. Then I had a driver show up with a load that was basically gray water, and when I asked him to adjust the slump, he told me it was fine and to just "work it in." Lost two hours on a simple sidewalk pour trying to add dry mix from my own bags, which I shouldn't have had to do. The driver even argued with me on the radio about it, saying his boss told him to save water. Changed my whole perspective on who's actually in control of a job site.
