Job in Phoenix last summer taught me why you never pour when it's over 105

Funny you say that, @sammartinez, because I actually think it can be done if you're smart about it. You just have to mix in smaller batches and keep your materials in the shade. The key is to use ice water and work fast, not to wait until the sun is beating straight down on everything. Plenty of crews down here pour in July and August, they just start at 5 AM and finish before the pavement really heats up. Not saying it's easy, but it's not the total disaster people make it out to be if you plan ahead.

Buddy of mine tried to pour concrete one afternoon in August down there... got all the way to the end of the driveway and the whole bag just set up in the mixer before he even started. Had to chip it out with a chisel for two days.
