Just saw a 4 month old slab that we finished vs the neighbor's crew job

We used a power trowel with a pan after the bull float, theirs just hand troweled. The difference in surface hardness and color uniformity is night and day, has anyone else noticed big gaps between power versus hand finishing on residential driveways?

Read somewhere that power troweling pushes the cream to the surface way more consistent than hand work, makes a big difference in color and density.

Notice how almost any mechanical process beats hand work for consistency, whether it's mixing concrete or stirring paint. Once you see that pattern in one trade, you start spotting it everywhere, right?

Yeah, cameron_hernandez69 mentioned that consistency thing and they're dead on. Power troweling is like having a robot with OCD vs a guy who's had three energy drinks and is just trying to get home. You can literally see the difference in the way the light hits the surface. This one job we did, the neighbor's hand job looked like a jigsaw puzzle of slightly different shades of gray. Ours looked like a solid piece of dark slate. Your mileage may vary, but once you go power, you don't go back.
