PSA: The mix on that new job site in Phoenix is way too hot for this weather.
Last week we were pouring a slab for a warehouse out there and the truck showed up with the concrete reading 95 degrees. We had to rush like crazy just to get it placed before it set up. My buddy on the crew said he hasn't seen a mix that hot since a bad batch three years ago in Tucson. How are you guys handling these summer pours when the plant sends it out so warm?

Sounds like the plant is trying to bake you guys a birthday cake instead of pour concrete.

95 degrees is just asking for trouble. We tried to pour a curb last month with mix that hot and it set up so fast it looked like a toddler's sandcastle. My foreman still brings it up to make fun of me. Honestly, the only thing setting faster than that concrete was my will to live that day. You really have to beg the plant for retarder or just plan on a total panic.
