Spent $400 on a laser screed rental for a 30x40 pour and it was a total waste

The pour was too small to make back the setup time and my guys spent 2 hours just getting the thing level on a gravel pad. Has anyone actually made laser screeds pay off on residential work, or is that money only worth it on big commercial decks?
