Tried a friend's magnesium float on a garage slab and my old steel one feels like a brick now.
We were finishing a 24x24 garage floor in Eugene. He handed me his mag float halfway through. So much lighter. My arm wasn't dead by the end of the day. The finish was smoother too, less drag. Anyone else make the switch and notice a big difference?

I switched to a magnesium float about three years ago on a big patio job. My old steel one was just too heavy, it made my shoulder ache by lunchtime. The mag float glides so much easier, it really does give you a smoother finish with less effort. I won't go back to steel now, the difference is that big. It's one of those tools you don't realize you need until you try it.

Yeah I used to think it was just hype until I tried one. Now my steel float stays in the truck.
