Tried a magnesium float on a garage slab yesterday - total game changer
I've always used a regular wood float for that initial pass, but a buddy at the supply house in Waco talked me into trying a magnesium one. The difference was crazy - it closed the surface way faster and left almost no drag marks. I finished that 20x24 slab in about 45 minutes less than usual. Has anyone else switched floats and seen a big difference in their finish time?

Yep, switched to magnesium last year... hate going back to wood now.

Tbh @nina_hall48 once you go magnesium you never go back. Wood just feels heavy and clunky after using something so light. Not sure why anyone would choose the old stuff now.

Wood clunky" nails it. @mark_green I swapped to magnesium a year back and honestly can't imagine lugging wood around again. Feels like a no-brainer once you try it.

Wood clunky" nails it. I switched about six months back and honestly I felt like a caveman finally discovering fire. My first slab with magnesium I spent the whole time patting myself on the back for not having to wrestle a soggy wooden anchor around. I'm not saying I'm a pro now or anything, but at least I don't look like I'm trying to paddle a boat across fresh concrete. My only regret is not doing it sooner, probably would have saved me from a few backaches too.
