A weird thing I saw at the old missile silo tour in Kansas
I took that public tour of the Atlas F site near Abilene last month. Our guide pointed out a concrete pad that was poured in 1963, but the rebar inside looked brand new, not rusted at all. He said the official story is a special mix was used, but a guy in my group whispered it had to be replaced in the 80s and they just covered it up. It made me think about how easy it is to hide fixes at places with so much secret history. Has anyone else been there and noticed that, or heard a different story about that spot?

That exact pad by the old generator building, right? Our guide told us the same thing about the concrete mix, but I swear I saw what looked like a seam or a pour line near the edge. It got me looking closer at everything, like the paint on some pipes in the launch control center looked way too fresh for something that was supposed to be frozen in the 60s. Once you start noticing one cover-up, you see potential fixes everywhere in that place.

Actually, I just figured they did amazing maintenance. That concrete mix story checks out for me, some of those old government specs were wild. You guys are maybe seeing ghosts in the machine.

Ever check if the "maintenance" was actually them quietly swapping out whole sections? Like a ship of Theseus thing.
