Heard a guy at my gym in Columbus say the moon landing was faked, then he pulled out his phone to prove it
So I'm on the treadmill last Tuesday around 6am after a shift, and this guy next to me starts going off about how we never went to the moon. He's dead serious too. Then he whips out his phone and shows me a YouTube video that's somehow 2 hours long, and the whole time he's nodding like this is case closed. I watched maybe 10 minutes and it was just a guy talking over old NASA clips with a red circle drawn on them. Here's what got me though, the video had 4 million views and half the comments were people saying their kids are being lied to in school. I've seen flat earth stuff before and laughed it off, but this felt different. It was so polished and confident that I almost forgot to ask the basic question of why the USSR never called us out if it was fake. Has anyone else noticed these videos getting way slicker lately, or am I just too tired to tell the difference anymore?
Two years ago I would've just laughed at that dude, but then I actually looked into the Soviet angle and it wrecked my whole "it's obviously fake" knee jerk. If we faked it, Russia would've screamed it from the rooftops the second we planted that flag.
