PSA: a guy at the Denver airport spent 20 minutes explaining chemtrails to me and I froze up
Sitting at gate B12 two weeks ago, this guy named Roy from Colorado Springs spots my flight jacket patch and launches into a whole thing about geoengineering and how the trails over the Rockies never fade. He kept pointing out the window and counting planes on his fingers, and when I asked where he got his info he just said "do your own homework" and walked off. I still don't know if I should've pushed back or just let it go. How do you all handle it when somebody drops a 20 minute theory on you in public?
A small thing to fix first. He didn't give you a source because he didn't have one, so pushing back on facts was never going to land. "Do your own homework" is what people say when they can't show their work. My move in that spot is to ask one plain question and then stop feeding it. Something like "what would change your mind about this?" Most of the time they can't answer, and the talk fizzles on its own. You don't owe a stranger 20 minutes of your gate time either. Saying "I'm gonna go grab a coffee" is a full sentence.
