That time a guy in a diner told me the moon landing was staged and I asked him how satellites work
He just stared at his coffee for a solid minute and then said 'that's what they want you to think' before getting up and walking out, so has anyone else found that specific silence more convincing than any argument?

My friend Sarah once cornered a guy at a house party who claimed wifi was "mind control waves." She just asked him how his phone connected to her router if that was true. He froze, blinked like three times, then said "it's all frequencies" and left mid-sentence out the back door. She found his empty beer can on the porch later. That silence was louder than any argument I've ever heard.

Oh man, I've found the best way to shut down that stuff is to just hit them with one simple question they can't answer without contradicting themselves, then let them dig their own hole.

Hold on though, is asking a question really that foolproof? Some of these guys have been living in their own bubble so long they've got an answer for everything, even if it sounds like total nonsense. I've seen people pivot to "well you just don't understand the quantum layers" or something equally vague, and suddenly you're stuck in a back and forth that goes nowhere. Plus, if you hit them with a question and they don't answer, that can just look like a win in their own head because they've convinced themselves they "walked away from the debate.
