The JFK second shooter theory lost me after I read the acoustics study

I used to be pretty sure there was a second shooter on the grassy knoll, but then I found a 1979 study from the National Academy of Sciences. They matched the audio from a police dictabelt to the actual shots and proved the infamous 'fourth shot' was just static from a radio transmission. It still bugs me that nobody talks about the acoustics data though... has anyone else dug into that specific report?

I had a buddy back in the 80s who was convinced the whole thing was a mob hit, not a government conspiracy. He'd spend hours arguing about it over beers, but he never once mentioned that acoustics study, just kept pointing to grainy photos of shadows. Funny how people pick their evidence like they're choosing sides in a bar fight. Makes you wonder if the truth even matters when everyone's already made up their mind.
