I dismissed drone scanning until a 4-acre grading job proved me wrong
I always figured drone mapping was overkill for residential work, but last month in Boise I had a 4-acre lot that kept fighting me on cut and fill. The old transit method gave me numbers that were off by almost 6 inches in one corner, and the client noticed before I did. I borrowed my buddy's DJI and ran a quick photogrammetry pass, and it caught a low spot I never would have found on foot. Has anyone else switched over after a disaster like that, or am I just behind on the tech?
