Pro tip: Talk to an older GC before ditching your paper plans

Had a long conversation with a 30 year GC from Cleveland last week on a mixed use build. I was showing him how we do everything off tablets and BIM models now, and he just nodded. Then he asked me what happens when the wifi drops on a job site for 3 days straight. I laughed it off but then he showed me his binder from a 2018 job where the cloud server went down for a week and everything was pulled off a single set of marked up prints. He said the crew that could read paper kept working, the rest sat in the trailer on their phones. That hit different because I never even thought about that failure point. We still use digital, but now I keep a printed set with redlines in the site office and have the foreman initial any changes on paper. Has anyone else had an older guy on site make you rethink your whole workflow for the better?
