Switching from a basic laser level to a self-leveling one with a green laser cut my layout time for a foundation in half.

The old red dot was impossible to see in the afternoon sun, but the green line from the new one was clear even from 50 feet away, so has anyone else found a specific tool upgrade that saved you a huge chunk of time on site?

Totally get that about the green laser. My game changer was a cordless nail gun. I was still using a compressor and hose, and the setup and dragging that hose around ate so much time. Going cordless for trim work felt like cheating, it was so much faster. Just grab the gun and go.

But is the hose really that big of a deal? I still use my old compressor setup and it takes like five minutes to roll out. The cordless guns are crazy expensive for what seems like just a bit less hassle.

Honestly felt the same way about the hose until I did a big flooring project. Dragging that thing around corners and untangling it every five minutes drove me nuts. Switched to cordless for a bathroom reno and the time saved was insane, not just in setup but in constant moving. The cost hurt up front but I've used it so much it paid off in pure convenience.
