We switched to a tool called StatusCake last year. I just figured out how to turn off the visitor tracking stuff in the settings and it helped with that nagging feeling.

Oh man, that's such a good feeling! I had the same vibe with Slack's read receipts and finally found the setting to turn those off. It just feels less like someone's watching over your shoulder.
