That guy who told me to laser scan foundation pours saved my butt last week
An old surveyor I worked with in Denver kept saying to always scan before you pour, even if the dirt looks level. I ignored him for two years until I had a 30,000 square foot slab in Aurora that was 6 inches off on one corner. After that nightmare we rented a Leica scanner and found 4 more spots the grade was wrong before the concrete truck showed up. Has anyone else had a ground guy swear by old methods that actually cost you time?

That old surveyor definitely saved you a headache, @nina_hall48. I started using a basic level rod and some string lines after seeing how expensive a miss would have been on our site. It's way cheaper than fixing a bad pour, and the old timers usually have the right tricks.

@nina_hall48 I bet that old Denver guy also knows the spots where newer tech misses things. Laser scanners catch stuff human eyes just can't see.
