That Tuesday when my drone survey data got corrupted by a single magnet

I spent 9 hours flying 43 acres near Austin and then my SD card sat on top of a speaker magnet in the truck, wiping out every file, and now I'm rebuilding the whole site map from scratch, so has anyone else lost field data to something this stupid?

wait, the magnet thing is actually kinda rare. like most sd cards are pretty resistant to that unless it was a crazy strong magnet or the card was already failing. you sure it was the magnet and not just a corrupted card? either way that sucks, 9 hours is brutal.

naw magnets are way more dangerous than people think for sd cards. flash storage uses electrical charges, strong magnets mess with the controller chip even if the data cells survive. had a buddy lose a whole wedding shoot that way.
