Why does nobody talk about the problems with automated concrete trucks?

I was on a site in Austin last month where they brought in one of those new self-driving mixers, and it got stuck trying to turn around in the mud for over an hour. The whole crew just stood there watching a $300,000 machine spin its wheels while the concrete started to set. Has anyone else had a project delayed by this kind of 'smart' equipment failing at a basic job?

But what happens when the site conditions change fast, like after a rain? Can the truck's system really judge soft ground better than a driver with years of experience? That mud in Austin wasn't there when they probably mapped the route.

I used to think they were the future, but that story changed my mind.

Right, because obviously the truck was just having an off day. Maybe it woke up on the wrong side of the server rack, you know? The thing probably saw mud and thought it was a challenge, not a hazard. Sure, blame the driver, but the truck is the one that got stuck in the first place. Classic tech bro logic - the machine is perfect, the human must be the problem.

Sounds like a bad driver, not a bad truck.
