3 years ago a snapped cable almost took my arm off at a job site in Houston

Boss told me to run the hoist one more time before replacing the frayed line... figured it was fine for just one lift. It snapped at 40 feet and swung right past my shoulder - missed by inches. Any of you guys ever had a close call that made you rethink your whole safety routine?

Man that's insane, one more lift is all it takes to end up dead or missing an arm. What did your boss say after it snapped?

Agree with @keith274, one wrong move and your whole life changes in a heartbeat...

One more lift? That's the part that gets me. You go in thinking it's just another day, another job, and a second later your whole world is upside down. My buddy lost two fingers on a job back in the day, just from a split second of bad luck. Does your boss even realize how fast this stuff can go sideways or is he trying to brush it off?
