Blown $900 on a used crane camera system that was a brick
Picked up a supposedly working camera setup from a guy in Tulsa last month, saved money over new, but it lost signal every time the boom moved past 60 feet. I tore down the whole harness on Saturday and found a corroded connector hidden behind the cab mount. Anyone else had luck with aftermarket wireless kits that actually hold up?

Corroded connectors are the worst because they hide so well. Had one behind a cab mount on an old boom truck that looked fine from the outside but was green inside. What got me was the vibration, since every time the boom swung it jiggled that bad pin just enough to cut the signal. After chasing it for weeks I ended up running new sealed connectors and putting dielectric grease on every pin I could reach. The wireless kit itself was fine, the wiring was the real problem the whole time. So before you drop cash on a new kit, test your harness with a meter while someone moves the boom, because that will tell you if it is the connector or the radio.
