Debate among the crew: Pre-lift meetings or just wing it on site?

Last week on a job in downtown Houston, my foreman didn't call a pre-lift meeting and we nearly had a swing accident with a 12-ton beam. Three years ago, on a different crew, we spent 20 minutes talking through every step and never had a close call. So which side do you land on, do you need formal briefings or is experience enough to keep things safe?

Same pattern I see everywhere, people skipping the boring prep and then acting surprised when things go wrong.

So you're saying it's better to spend all your time prepping and still get blindsided by stuff nobody could predict lol?
