Dropped $400 on a fancy radio remote last year and it was a total waste
Bought a betex remote for the crawler crane thinking it'd make life easier, but the range is garbage past 50 feet. Ended up using the old pendant setup the next week because I couldn't trust it on a tight job near a high school in Phoenix. Anyone else had bad luck with those newer wireless systems?

Bought a similar setup for a dozer and the same thing happened. Swapped it for a remote with a directional antenna and it finally worked right.

Yeah I heard somewhere that those little rubber duck antennas on the basic remotes just don't cut it in heavy equipment cabs with all that metal around. A buddy of mine was telling me his case guy recommended a directional antenna specifically for that reason. Glad swapping yours finally sorted it out.

Yeah I used to think any antenna would work fine if the remote had enough power. This thread changed my mind though. Makes total sense now why metal cabs kill signal and a directional one fixes it.
